It is not a result of paid funds however daily initiatives of our friends.

The initial idea of Athanasios Katsimpelis for the creation of the team “Greek teachers” on Facebook in 2008 was for an internet-based active team where all Greek teachers can meet.

 

It was initially named in English: “Greek teachers” because back then Facebook did not support the Greek language and it was necessary for Greek teachers to be able to find the team. 

In the group the administrators could send messages to all of the members and to inform them about matters that concern them. Meanwhile, all of the members of the team, which now has passed 15.000, have the ability to share on the ‘wall’ of the team their connections or questions that are considered to be of concern to the rest of the members. Our fellowship has been developed clearly and demonstrably.

 

As our team developed on facebook and penetrated the Greek community it was renamed to: “Greek Teachers and Preschool Teachers – Greek teachers” of which today is numbered at 27.560 members.

The need for the creation of the website www.greekteachers.gr formed with the years thanks to the participation of the educators who had as a goal the communication of greek teachers and the function via publicity and the projection of views of the struggling Greek teacher both in Greece and abroad. 

 

Meanwhile another community strengthens on twitter. Our community there already has 3200 followers.

The website www.greekteachers.gr belongs moreover to the Scientific and Humanitarian Non Profit Organization of Greek Teachers.It is a company that was founded in order to provide to the venture a legal personality in order to have the ability to intervene in the community with events and scientific and humanitarian actions.
